About Lamb of God - Bukas Palad

Bukas Palad's Description:
Words and Music by Manoling Francisco, SJ
Arrangement by Palan Reyes

The Lamb of God is sung as the Bread is broken. We call upon the Lamb of God to take away our sins. When the breaking is complete, our prayer turns to a plea for the Lamb of God to grant us peace.

Usually, the Lamb of God is sung as a three-part hymn. However, it is a ritual song of the choir and the congregation, to accompany the priest's breaking of the Bread, and the placing of the consecrated hosts in ciboria. Therefore, it is recommended that the first verse be sung continuously until the altar is ready. Afterwards, the instrumentalist transposes the hymn to signal the choir and congregation to sing the last invocation: "Lamb of God; grant us peace."
